About Department
The goal of Commerce Department at CTIMIT is to achieve excellence by fostering creativity and leadership in young, aspiring corporate leaders through responsible business leadership that places an emphasis on cutting-edge teaching and research methodologies that address real-world business needs and stimulate fresh ideas. Students are equipped with a contemporary outlook, real-world knowledge, and abilities related to commerce. To put the purpose into practice, the department combines a demanding, multimodal pedagogy with a productive industrial interface. It gives students the chance to develop their conceptualization, decision-making, and communication skills as well as their ability to become catalysts and expand their understanding of the political, social, and economic surroundings.

Programming Lab:
The Programming Lab stands as the cornerstone of our department's academic journey, serving as a vibrant hub for practical application and experimentation in programming paradigms. Equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software resources, the lab offers students a hands-on platform to hone their coding skills across various languages and frameworks. Equipped with advanced networking hardware and simulation software, the lab provides a simulated environment to explore concepts such as network configuration, routing protocols, network security, and performance optimization. Academics Activities
Intent-Bring Ideas into reality
The Entrepreneurial Challenge Competition was organized at CTIMIT, Maqsudan campus by Management department on February 29, 2024.The students came up with different business plans explaining their business goals, the methods on how these goals can be attained, and the time frame within which these goals need to be achieved. They also described the nature of the business, background information on the organization, the organization's financial projections, and the strategies they intended to implement to achieve the stated targets. This helped the students to understand the basics of entrepreneurship. All the students of CTIMIT participated in the event with zeal.
There were eleven teams in total. Sandeep and Diljit from BCOM-IV bagged the first position, while Sahil from BCOM-VI stood second, Manpreet, Anchal from MBA 2 stood third.
VIRTUAL TRADING MONTH: A HUNT FOR THE SMART INVESTOR
"Financial literacy is important because it equips one with the knowledge and skill to manage money effectively. Without financial literacy, the actions and decisions one make or do not make with respect to savings and Investments would lack a strong foundation." To imbibe such financial virtues within students. Department of Management Studies, North Campus, Maqsudan, Jalandhar celebrated "Virtual Trading Month- A Hunt for the Smart Investor" from February 2, 2024 to February 29, 2024.
Session on How to write Research Paper
It is anticipated that the session on “How to write Research paper” 2023–24 enhanced the skills and knowledge. To throw light upon such facts, Department of Management Studies, CTIMIT organized a Session on How to write Research paper on 29thFebruary, 2024. Ms.Pooja from Management department shared her thoughts on research paper and discusses the research writing process. All the facilities attended the session to learn more or expand their skills. “Writing a research paper is an ideal way to organize, craft narratives or make the arguments based on research, and share your new found knowledge with the world.
EXTEMPORE
One can define extempore speech as an improtant amalgamation of thoughts culminating into a self-composed speech, the topic for which one receives then and there. Extempore speech is typically used to gain a deeper knowledge of a participant’s many points but it also comes with a lot of problems. No prior preparation for which is permissible. It won’t be wrong to say that catching hold over the art of delivering extempore speeches becomes the primary characteristic of a public speaker. Furthermore, being able to present the extempore topic to the audience without any proper preparation is a genuinely exceptional achievement.

Mocks will give you a reality check on how effective your preparation is. Mocks will help you remember the concepts and not forget things that you have learned and mastered. It will also help you to keep revising the syllabus again every time after you solve a mock.
Case Studies
A case study is a research method that allows a person to understand why and how to investigate questions. Case studies on the very relevant topics are discussed timely to develop skills like problem-solving, coping with ambiguities, analytical/ quantitative/qualitative tools depending on the case and decision making in complex situations. Some of the discussed cases include Boat, Maggi, Yogi Adityanath’s strategies and many more.
Mind, Master & Challenge:The GK-QUIZ
The quiz competition increases the Students’ general knowledge and also boosts confidence. Quizzes also act as an icebreaker at schools, offices, or also, in some cases, at home. Students get to know about one another's likings and preferences. Quiz games bring out the enthusiastic and competitive side within students. To keep this in mind, Management Department organised General Quiz Competition wherein students participated with great enthusiasm & Zeal.
MOVIE CLUB ACTIVITY
Through shared experiences and inspiration drawn from the big screen, Cinema enables us to face the difficult situations of life, encouraging personal growth, empathy & resilience in face of diversity. Department of Management Studies, CTIMIT, North Campus, Maqsudan, Jalandhar had organized “Roll-Camera-Action: A Film Screening Activity” on February 28, 2024.
Industiral Visit
Industrial Visit at Verka Milk Plant, Jalandhar
To acquaint the students with the various processes involved in making and marketing of various products in the industry, Management Department of CTIMIT, Maqsudan organized an Industrial Visit to “Verka Milk Plant, Jalandhar" on 28th April, 2023 for management students. The respected executives of the industry enlightened the students about the history of the industry and how it has managed to earn fame across the region. They demonstrated the students about its working and elucidated about the tools and machinery used in the production process. Such visits enrich the students with practical knowledge of industrial procedures and widen their knowledge of managing industries.
Industrial Visit Savi International, Jalandhar
Students of the Department of Management Studies, CTIMIT attended an industrial visit to savi International, Jalandhar. Savi International deals with supplying and trading of men shirts, sports lowers, manufacturing colorful inflatable balls, ladies sportswear etc. Understanding automation in industries & robust technology will help them to generate innovative ideas. With the aim to provide exposure to students about the practical working environment and give full awareness about the Industrial practices, an Industrial visit was arranged by CTIMIT at SONALIKA, Hoshiarpur. It is the leading tractor export brand from India and is the third largest tractor brand in India. Understanding automation in industries & robust technology will help them to generate innovative ideas. Pre Budget Talk
It is anticipated that the Union Budget 2024–25 will build the groundwork and offer a direction for the economy. The Union Budget, one of the biggest events of the year, will aid in creating the economic plan for the following year. To throw light upon such facts, Department of Management Studies, CTIMIT organized a Pre Budget Talk on 28th January, 2024.There were 6 panelists who gave their views on diverse sectors. Ms.Pooja from Management Department shared her views on Economic Sector. Ms.Pooja Marwaha from Computer application department shared his valuable knowledge on Education Sector. Ms.Mamta Devi from the CSE, ITR Department and Mr.Rahil from the Media Studies Department each gave thoughts on the Health Sector and the Power, Energy, and Automobile industries. Agriculture Sector was covered by Mr.Shireesh from Hotel Management Department. Ms.Shivani from Tourism Department acknowledged the audience with Aviation, Tourism & Hospitality. All speakers cleared all facts in a very detailed and Euclid manner.
Union Budget live Streaming 2023-24
The Live streaming of “ Union Budget 2024” was organized by the Department of Management Studies, CTIMIT, where students from watched the live budget represented by our finance minister Mrs.Nirmla Sitaraman Ji or learn new things about our economy or budget. As the students observed the live budget and questions asked from them after the session. The students discussed the positive and negative out-turns of the budget in their chosen sector. Such a session helps the students to equip themselves with the knowledge of the current state of the economy and the lessons derived from the budget. Mr.Malkeet Singh, HOD, Management, CTIMIT opines that the government's focus on long-term growth assistance was emphasized in the Union Budget. The budget's primary positives include a focus on expanding capital investment as well as future development drivers such as renewable energy. The budgeted receipts and expenditures, as well as the fiscal deficit objectives, are in line with our expectations.
360-DEGREE Assessment of Union Budget 2024
The Session on “360 Degree Assessment of Union Budget 2024” was organized by the Department of Management Studies, CTIMIT, where students from different classes have chosen different sectors and analyzed the impact of budget on that respective sector and the overall economy followed by the Question and Answers round. The sectors chosen by the students include Economy, Taxes and Infrastructure, Health and Defence, Finance, Agriculture, Power, Fuel and Energy, Telecom, Digital Economy, and Education, etc. The students discussed the positive and negative out-turns of the budget in their chosen sector. Such a session helps the students to equip themselves with the knowledge of the current state of the economy and the lessons derived from the budget.
TARANG
TARANG “TARANG” the occasion of 75th Republic day Department of Management Studies, CTIMIT organized on 25th January, 2024. The college faculty, and students came together to showcase the rich cultural diversity of our country through various performances, including patriotic dance, music, and drama. The event also featured thought-provoking speeches highlighting the importance of democracy, unity, and the values enshrined in our Constitution. There were many events such as Patriotic dance, Singing, Poster making, Skit, Poet, Fashion show. There were many teams who represented different states in fashion show. These states were Goa, HimachalPradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra Gujarat, Rajasthan etc. In the final guest performance, some girls demonstrated Punjabi culture.
TRIP TO KATHGARH,MUKTESHWAR DHAM & MINI GOA
“Take only memories, leave only footprints” ~ Chief Seattle. Educational tours are a crucial component of the academic program because they give students the chance to learn outside of the classroom and get useful practical experience. Department of Management Studies, CTIMIT, Maqsudan, organized an educational trip to Kathgarh, Mukteshwar Dham & Mini Goa on 12th March, 2024.
Kshitij 3.0- THE MANAGEMENT CARNIVAL
College fests act as a platform for students to showcase their innovative ideas, compete with their peers and have a feel of the real world .With the objective of celebrating the Fun Perks of being in college, Department of Management Studies, CTIMIT, North Campus, Maqsudan organized “THE MANAGEMENT CARNIVAL” KSHITIJ 2024 For the students of the campus on 29th March, 2024 from 10:00AM onwards. There are numerous events that contribute to the carnival's success. Business Rangoli, Business Quiz, Mehandi, picture Interpretation, Solo Singing, Group Dance, Solo Dance, Treasure Hunt, Role Play, Poster Making, Collage Making, best out of waste, and other events were on the schedule. The events were eagerly attended by the students.
